Booked for Robbery and Attacking Victim until unconscious

Press Release – On August 20, around 5:30 pm, APD officers responded to a report of a robbery at a business in the 2900 block of Masonic Drive. On arrival, the officers were informed that the robbery was of an individual on the parking lot of the business. The victim had been approached by two males, after which he was attacked and had cash stolen from him. During the attack, the victim suffered cuts and bruises, and was apparently briefly knocked unconscious.

Based on the initial information provided about the suspects, officers were able to quickly locate one nearby in the City Park. This subject, identified as Derrick Voorhies, 34, of Alexandria, was detained and interviewed by detectives, after which he was charged with Second Degree Robbery and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
