Bolton Ave. Enhancement Project Begins

You’ve probably seen the work being done on Bolton Avenue.  This is the first phase of the Bolton Avenue Corridor Enhancement Project.

Today, city officials celebrate the beginning of the largest redevelopment project in Alexandria history.  It’s part of the 96 million dollar SPARC program.  That stands for “Special Planned Activity Redevelopment Corridors”.  This is one of 3 areas to be developed in SPARC.

City officials say these 3 cultural restoration areas make up 45 percent of the population.  This particular CRA goes from Monroe to Elliott.  City planners say it has been plagued by problems and crime.

Jeffrey Carbo Landscape Architects and Progressive Construction created this phase one project.
