Bill Aims to Expand Avoyelles Port Commission
A bill to re-configure the make-up of the Avoyelles Port Commission is now half-way through the legislature. It’s sponsored by State Representative Robert Johnson of Marksville.
The measure would expand the board from seven to nine, and would diversify the membership. Johnson says this would help the port obtain more federal funding.
The bill now heads to the senate.
