State Police are beginning their annual DWI crackdown.  It runs now through New Year’s Day.

Local law enforcement are also included in the crackdown.

Monroe Hosts Very Merry Commander Christmas

Those famous bearded Duck Dynasty stars are part of a Very Merry Commander Christmas in Monroe tomorrow.  The events take place at the downtown river market on the Ouachita River.

“Tree of Life” On Display at Rapides Regional

A special sculpture is delivered to Rapides Women and Children’s Hospital.  This “Tree of Life” was created by participants in the John Eskew Project.
This project at River Oaks directs developmentally disabled clients ages 17 to 35 in art projects.  The instructors say it’s a healing and creative outlet for teens and young adults.

Insurance Commissioner Reminds LA Homeowners of Katrina Rebate

State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says the clock is ticking on 59 million dollars in rebates owed to Louisiana ratepayers.  These refunds are set to expire at the end of the year.

The assessment was imposed on all policyholders starting in 2009 to pay off Katrina claims.

Huey Long Hospital Transforming into Urgent Care Clinics

Man Arrested in Leesville Bank Robbery

Leesville police say they’ve solved a bank robbery that happened Monday.  26-year-old Michael Lee Jones of DeRidder is charged with armed robbery of the City Savings Bank in Leesville.  His bond is set at 200 thousand dollars.
Police declined to say how much, if any, money he got away with.  Nobody was hurt in the hold-up.

Home of Pineville Mayor Catches Fire

The home of Pineville Mayor Clarence Fields and his wife Rosa caught fire this morning.
Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the damage to the structure is significant, and the roof was destroyed.  The house is located on North Bend Drive in the Pinehurst area of Pineville.
