Alexandria student earns $20K college scholarship


INDIANAPOLIS – Gabrielle Lessen, a senior at Holy Savior Menard Central High School in Alexandria, has been selected to receive a $20,000 college scholarship through the Samsung-American Legion program.
Lessen selection was based on her class standing, academic and civic achievements and financial need.  Nine students earned the scholarship from a finalist group of nearly 100.

Inmate Recaptured After Walk-Off

An inmate trustee who’s accused of walking off a work detail is recaptured in Natchitoches Parish.  Deputies say Randy Girod of Columbia was caught when Natchitoches Police found a suspicious truck on a dead-end road.
He’s now charged with escape and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
