Over-Wide Vehicle Forces OK Allen Closure

The OK Allen Bridge over the Red River is shut down during noontime traffic today for about 30 minutes.  Police on both sides of the river had to detour the normally heavy traffic.

Mobile Home Destroyed by Fire This Morning

A mobile home is destroyed by fire this morning, but fortunately no one was hurt.
The fire happened around 9 on Brown’s Bend Road, and the parish fire department responded.
Authorities say no one was living in the home so investigators are treating it as arson.

Devon Lockart from Ball is arrested on 30 counts of carnal knowledge of a minor.
The complaint was filed last month, and detectives secured a warrant for his arrest following an investigation.

Student Arrested for Carrying Handgun on Peabody Campus

A 17-year-old is arrested for taking a handgun on the campus of Peabody high.  Andrew Smith was taken into custody yesterday afternoon.
Rapides deputies say students told a school resource officer the student had a gun.  When he was patted down, they reportedly found an unloaded 25-caliber semi-automatic weapon.
Smith was taken to the parish detention center.

State police say they’ve arrested a man they describe as a child predator.
He’s 39-year-old Scott Hebert of Winnfield.  He was arrested yesterday for indecent behavior with a juvenile.  Troopers with the special victims unit say he used social media to contact children in Arkansas ages 10 to 12 and sent them pornographic pictures of himself.

Kent House Hosts KLAX-TV Staff for Open-Hearth Cooking

A group of volunteers at Kent House in Alexandria are practicing open-hearth cooking.
They cook in a 19th century kitchen, away from the big house, which was common practice in those days for safety reasons.  The seasonal recipes are also taken from the original owners of Kent House.
