Habitat For Humanity Closing Restore

Habitat for Humanity is reminding everyone it’s closing its Restore by the end of this month. It’s chock full of construction materials and items needed for homes. Most have been donated to Habitat.
Habitat volunteers say they’ll be turning their attention and efforts to building more homes for the working poor.

Plane Crashes into Monroe McDonald’s

A plane crash-lands today at a McDonald’s restaurant in Monroe, leaving the pilot hurt. The crash left the small plane upside down in the parking lot area.
The plane originated from Illinois.

The pilot of the plane is Ray Martin. He’s a Monroe-based pilot who works for Brown’s Feed and Chemical.

Rapides Habitat for Humanity is closing its Restore on Broadway. The final day will be June 30th, and now it’s having an “everything must go” sale.
Officials with Habitat say they’re now focusing their efforts on increasing house production.

Hornbeck Man Arrested for Running Over Anacoco Man

A Hornbeck man is arrested in Vernon Parish for driving over a man and injuring him early Saturday. 49-year-old Tully Thornton is charged with attempted murder, hit and run and criminal damage to property.

Rapides Deputies Searching for Escaped Inmate

Rapides deputies are searching for an inmate assigned to the city of Alexandria, who reportedly walked off a job site and stole a city vehicle.
37-year-old McKennedy Armstead is serving time for a drug conviction. He’s not considered dangerous, and authorities recovered the city truck he’s accused of stealing.

Anacoco Man Arrested In Connection with Shooting

Vernon deputies arrest an Anacoco man in connection with a shooting early this morning at Methodist Landing Park in the Leesville area.
34-year-old Rodney McGlothlin is accused of using a shotgun to injure Ernest Phaneuf III, who’s now listed in stable condition.
