Reward Offered for Leads in Black Bear Killing

A seven thousand dollar reward is being offered for leads in the killing of a black bear in Concordia Parish.
Game wardens say a fisherman found the badly decomposed body of the bear on September 1st in the Atchafalaya River.
The animal was radio collared and was part of the state’s black bear restoration program.

Kennedy Calls for Legislative Oversight of Office of Group Benefits

The most vocal critics of the handling of the health benefits for state workers, including teachers, is State Treasurer John Kennedy. He’s now calling for legislative oversight of the Office of Group Benefits.

Kennedy has said the trust fund for the group benefits was raided by the governor to balance the budget.

Alabama Fugitive Apprehended in Cenla

A suspect police say wounded an officer and carjacked another person from Montgomery, Alabama was apprehended in Central Louisiana over the weekend.
