A coalition of volunteers, many from area churches, is providing services to the homeless, the needy and the under-served. Volunteers of America is helping with this project which will be conducted next Thursday from 10 until noon in the parking lot of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Volunteers Working Hard on Cenla Race for the Cure

The Komen Race for the Cure is less than two months away, and volunteers are working hard. The Cenla Race for the Cure Committee meets to recruit and inform new volunteers about the race. It’s October 11th in Downtown Alexandria.

NSU President Candidate Short List Released

The short list is released for the next NSU President. Lisa Abney is provost at NSU; James Henderson is Chancellor of Bossier Community College; Linda Rinker is Provost at Davenport University; and Renva Watterson is Interim President of Georgia Highlands College.

At 7:59AM this morning, August 22 2014, APD Officers responded to the intersection of Jackson and Foisy Streets in reference to an accident involving a Rapides Parish School Bus and a Ford Expedition.

Child Calls 911 to Report Mother’s Drug Overdose

A Grant Parish woman is under arrest after her child called 911 when the mom passed out from a drug overdose in their car. 23-year-old Keri Silk of Pollock is accused of possession of oxycodone, pills and illegal use of drugs in the presence of a minor.

Anti-Terrorism Exercise Underway at Fort Polk

An anti-terrorism exercise is underway today at Camp Beauregard. ABC 31′s Bennett Roland Junior says this is the kind of training that anticipates the unthinkable.

These exercises are now a routine part of multi-agency training, especially because this area is so close to Fort Polk.
