Camp Carter Aims to Improve Students’ Reading Skills

Chopstick Restaurant Now Open

The restaurant on North MacArthur Drive formerly known as Anchors is now Chopstick. Chamber of Commerce Red Coats did the honors for the grand opening today.
Chopstick offers a wide variety of Japanese and Chinese dishes, including sushi and hibachi entrees. They’re open for lunch and dinner.

LSUA SGA President Elected to LSU Board of Supervisors

The SGA President at LSU of Alexandria is the new student member of the LSU Board of Supervisors. Brandon Crain was selected by other student body presidents to represent them on the board of supervisors.
He’s the 3rd LSUA student ever elected to this board.

The chancellor of LSU of Alexandria has hit the ground running since being appointed this spring. Doctor Dan Howard talks about his first 100 days in that office.

State Highways & Bridges Director in Town Today

The woman in charge of state highways and bridges is in Central Louisiana today. She’s the guest of the North Rapides Business and Industry Alliance, meeting today at Guinn Auditorium in Pineville at Louisiana College.

She is the first woman to serve in this capacity in state government.

Clyde Holloway Calls for CLECO CEO to Resign

Public Service Commissioner Clyde Holloway is calling for the resignation of CLECO CEO Bruce Williamson.
Last week news broke that the utility headquartered in Pineville is set to be sold.

Barnes & Noble Book Store Open at LSUA

Students at LSU of Alexandria will not have to leave the campus to get books. The new Barnes and Noble Book store is open for business at LSUA. The bookstore will carry items branded with LSU and LSUA logos, textbooks, regular books and more.

Colfax Man Arrested for Intended Drug Distribution with Minors Present

A Colfax man is arrested after deputies say they found a large quantity of drugs packed to sell in a home where there were also 2 children under the age of 8.   Patrick Daniels is charged with meth distribution and illegal use in the presence of minors.
He was arrested last week inside a Colfax home.

Rapides deputies say they’ve closed the case of 4 18-wheeler wheels being taken on June 4th off of Highway 28 West. They’ve arrested Lenot Simmons of McNary by tracking the items to a scrap dealer.
