Man Receives Over 8 Years for Armed Robbery

A Ville Platte man is sentenced to more than eight years in prison for his part in a truck stop armed robbery.
Dudley Nelson robbed the truck stop and casino in Whiteville in April 2011. Nelson drove the getaway car.
Nobody was hurt, but they did get away with more than $11,000.

The Jewish Temple of Alexandria celebrates over the weekend. The historic congregation is now 155 years old. A plaque was placed near the building and the facility is now on the historic registry list.

POW, MIA Ceremony Held Today at VA

Those who never returned are remembered today at a VA hospital service. The guest speaker for this POW-MIA ceremony is Colonel Glenn Moore, Garrison Commander at Fort Polk.

The annual ceremony is designed to thank and remember those who were prisoners and the ones who for whom there are still question marks.
