Move-In Day at the Oaks Apartments at LSUA

It’s move-in day at the Oaks Apartments on the campus of LSU of Alexandria. They started early this morning and continued all day.
Volunteers, staff and some faculty at the school have turned this into a resource day. Area businesses set up tables to advertise and familiarize students with their new surroundings.

Another candidate is out of the gate for Pineville City Marshal. Jay Slayter is currently the commander for the Rapides Parish Corrections Emergency Response Team.

The City of Alexandria is now under a federal court deadline to pay the legal fees for one of the attorneys who handled the CLECO case. Otherwise, Federal Judge Dee Drell has ordered U.S. Marshals to seize funds from the city to make the million dollar plus payment.

Man Arrested in Fatal Crash Follow-Up

In a follow-up to a deadly accident on August 6th, State Police arrest a man from Basile. Troopers say as evidence surfaced, investigators concluded 34-year-old Eric Bergeaux was actually the driver of the vehicle, and he was impaired at the time of the crash.

Plane Crash Kills One, Injures Another

An elderly man is dead and another person is badly injured in a small plane crash yesterday morning in Natchitoches Parish. 83-year-old Thaddeus Longlois died and 80-year-old Jack McCain Junior was injured.   Both are from Natchitoches.
Authorities say they crashed in a field behind homes in the Pan Am Subdivision in south Natchitoches.

Police Search for Escaped Inmate

Federal prison officials are looking for 26-year-old inmate who they say walked away from the prison camp yesterday. Juan Garza is five-eight, 155 pounds, and was housed in the prison’s minimum-security area.
He was sentenced more than a year ago in Oklahoma for a firearm offense and was set to be released in eight years.
