More Than 17k Letters of Support Sent for Fort Polk

It’s estimated Central Louisiana residents sent in at least 17 thousand letters of support for Fort Polk. However, Chamber President Deborah Randolph says there are probably thousands yet to be counted or included in the final tally.
The Army post is fighting to keep from losing around 65 hundred soldiers.

Man Arrested After Being Shot as Intruder

Vernon deputies arrest a Leesville man who was shot August 9th by a homeowner, who says the man threatened him and his family. Jesse Lee Fernandez was shot four times and was arrested after his release from the hospital.
Deputies say Fernandez is charged with home invasion, criminal trespassing, criminal damage to property, and criminal mischief.

Local Realtor Appointed to Real Estate Commission

A local realtor is named by Governor Bobby Jindal to the state Real Estate Commission.
The 14-member board is appointed according to Supreme Court and congressional districts.
The Commission is headquartered in Baton Rouge.

Lauren Saucier invited area ministers to her announcement. She says if elected she will post the 10 Commandments in her courtroom. Her supporters say this is important to the ministers.

Drawdown Scheduled for Hardwater Lake
