4 Teens Arrested for Vehicle Break-Ins

Four juveniles are arrested for vehicle burglaries in the one thousand block of MacArthur Drive and the 12 hundred block of Texas Avenue. Police say they were caught last night a few blocks from one of the crime scenes, though nothing was taken.
The juveniles range in age from 14 to 16.

Leesville Woman Arrested for Defrauding Elderly Woman

Vernon deputies arrest a Leesville woman for reportedly defrauding an elderly woman in a nursing home. Melodie Lowens is employed at the home.
She’s accused of exploitation of the infirmed and identity theft. Deputies say Lowens used the victim’s debit card to pay utility bills and buy fast food.

Local Representative Pushing “Pay it Forward”

A local state representative is pushing a study resolution to help students with college debt. Pay It Forward bills are now active in many states, and Herbert Dixon is pushing for it in Louisiana.

The owners say they offer affordable, clean, safe and simple temporary housing for visitors and business travelers.

Saint Landry Judge Dies After Brief Illness

Saint Landry Parish is mourning the death of Judge Donald Hebert who died last night after a brief illness. He was 65 years old and was planning to retire in December.
He was elected in 1999 to the 27th judicial district.
