New Effort to Revitalize Downtown Alexandria Launches Today

A new, non-profit is being created to revitalize Downtown Alexandria.  A news conference was held today to provide details.

The announcement was made in the studio space above Sentry Drugs.

State Representative Chris Hazel says Central Louisiana wins in the legislative session that ended last month.  But, he’s frank about disappointments, and about his future in politics.

4 Kids Damage $275k Worth of Farm Equipment


Grant Deputies say 4 kids – ranging in age from 8 to 12 – are responsible for about 275 thousand dollars worth of damage to farm equipment.

Grant Deputies Seize $13k of Marijuana


Grant deputies say they’ve seized 13 thousand dollars worth of marijuana.
Deputies arrested 34-year-old David Fletcher Junior and 46-year-old Kelley Swanson, both of Pollock.  They say the plants were being grown in containers at a site south of Pollock.

State Supreme Court Rules in Cabrini Case

A court ruling ordering Cabrini Hospital to pay almost 3 million dollars in back pay to a prominent cardiologist — is thrown out by the State Supreme Court.

Rapides Police Jury Receives over $650k in Grant Money


The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of nearly $72 million in YouthBuild grants to support academic and occupational skill training for at-risk youth.  The Parish of Rapides Police Jury in Alexandria, La., was awarded $651,845.
