Chris Roy Junior Announces Run for Rapides District Attorney


Chris Roy Junior announces his candidacy for district attorney in Rapides parish in the fall election.
Roy is a former legislator who has been practicing law since 1987.  He is the brother of Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy and the son of attorney and state constitutional convention delegate Chris Roy Senior.

Alexandria Residents to Decide on Recreation Tax

Alexandria residents will have to decide on a 6-mill tax, intended to support recreational facilities, including the zoo.  Mayor Jacques Roy says it will provide 6 mills for maintenance of assets like ball fields, parks and the entire zoo complex.

The city council approved the tax call at its meeting last night.

Missing LA Boy’s Body Found


Authorities in Louisiana have found the body of a missing boy.
They say they found nine-year-old Hank Bollen in the woods this morning, after he allegedly left on home on Monday with a single shot .22 rifle.

LSUA To Receive $6.2 Million Donation


A historic announcement is made today at LSU of Alexandria.
School officials and friends gathered in Alexandria to hear about the 6.2 million dollar gift the LSUA Foundation will receive from the estate of Eloise and Howard Mulder.  That’s the largest gift in the school’s history.
