Chamber Members Attend Final Health Care Reform Presentation

The Obama Administration announces it will delay one important requirement of the Affordable Care Act.  Today Chamber members found out what the delay of the “Pay-to-Play” provision means for average Americans.

This is the final part of a 5-meeting presentation on how health care reform affects businesses and their employees.

State Treasurer Kennedy Addresses Downtown Rotary Club

State Treasurer John Kennedy says Louisiana can save millions of dollars by dropping unneeded contracts, mostly in the education department.  Today, Kennedy presented his plan to members of the downtown rotary club.

Kennedy got his start in state government by working as an attorney for former Governor Buddy Roemer.

Police Searching for Burglar


Alexandria Police need your help to find a burglar who is targeting businesses.  Police say this man is wanted for the July 7th break-in at a Metro Drive business.

Area Police Make Large Dent in Drug Fight


Area law enforcement agencies make a big dent in their fight against drugs.  The Natchitoches Drug Task Force takes seven people into custody on a long list of charges.  Agents say those charges stem from a long investigation into drug distribution in the Campti area.

A Deville man is found alive after spending the night lost in the woods.

2 Arrested for Weekend Shooting


Alexandria Police arrest two people after a shooting over the weekend.  Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 22 hundred block of Vance.
They found 40-year-old Kevin White of Alexandria with a shotgun.  Officers say white shot at a couple, thinking they witnessed him trying to break into a car.

Youth Challenge Program Celebrates 20th Year

The Louisiana Youth Challenge program is now in its 20th year.
This educational opportunity is for out-of-school young people.  It’s helped more than 16 thousand people receive high school diplomas at campuses in Pineville and in south Louisiana at Carville.

The anniversary celebration was held in New Orleans at the World War II Museum.

Fatal Weekend for Pedestrians

Alexandria Police investigate a deadly accident that happened last night on third street.
Police say a car driven by a Marksville couple hit a woman who walked into their lane.  25-year-old Jaclynn White of Pineville was pronounced dead at the scene.
