High School Open Enrollment Deadline is Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the deadline for high school open enrollment in Rapides Parish.  Supervisor Billy Albritton wants potential open-enrollees to keep in mind that applicants and parents must reside in the parish.

Alexandria Man Arrested in Shooting Case

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Colfax Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred in Colfax on February 22.  Tom Jenkins, 47 years old, of Alexandria, has been arrested for Attempted Second Degree Murder and Contempt of Court.
The victim, Kenneth Hardy, was transported to a hospital and has since been released.

8 children received minor injuries and a man was arrested on Highway 28 East after an early-morning school bus accident.

CLECO Warns Customers About Scam Artists

CLECO says customers are still being pestered by scam artists demanding money in order to prevent disconnection.
CLECO officials are warning everyone that customers will not be called about payments.  There will also be no suggestion about where to make a payment on legitimate CLECO calls.

Olla Elementary Class Gathers Can Tabs for St. Jude’s

Students at Olla Elementary gathered almost 500 pounds of can tabs to support Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  These students are members of Mary Thompson’s third grade class, and the fundraiser was sponsored by NSU.
