Audit: Over $26k Mismanaged at Port of Alexandria

The Port of Alexandria is responding to a critical audit, which says the Port Administration has mismanaged more than $26,000.

Experts say there are 10 critical findings. Some $21,000 was given directly to employees for their health coverage rather than paying the insurance companies.

A spokesperson for the port says they have responded to the audit. One major change will be to hire an outside accounting firm to handle the money. Also, the Port Board says it will no longer provide gifts and bonuses to employees and others.
