At the time of the report, the company had discovered one check for the amount of $758.00 that the suspect, identified as Travis Abshire, had written to himself rather than the company. The company’s internal audit was not yet complete so Deputies did not attempt to locate the suspect at that time and the case was referred to the Tioga Detectives for further investigation.
On January 15th, Detectives began their investigation and after interviewing the business owner, they discovered three more instances where Abshire had allegedly written checks to himself for work he performed for the business. After obtaining all relevant paperwork and reviewing the evidence, probable cause was developed for a warrant for Abshire’s arrest. Detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants and on January 27th, Detectives located Abshire and he was arrested on the active warrants.
Abshire was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on one count of Theft $750-$5,000 and three counts of Theft <$750. Abshire was later released on an $8,000.00 bond. Due to an internal audit still being conducted by the business, the investigation is still ongoing and more charges are possible.
