Arna Bontemps African American Museum presents ZYDABAAM this Saturday

Alexandria, LA – The Arna Bontemps African American Museum presents ZYDABAAM, a Zydeco concert, this Saturday, March 29, beginning at 6 p.m. Featured performers will be Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas and Little Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers.

DJ Justin Metoyer, “The Music Man”, will be laying the beat and teaching Zydeco lessons during the preshow at the Alexandria Amphitheater in downtown Alexandria.

Tickets are $15 general admission and can be purchased at the Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Smiley’s Barber Shop in Alexandria, Joey Williams Allstate and online at www.ticket-central.org. Tables for 10 are also available for $200. Call (318) 442-9546 to purchase tables.

Food and drink coolers are allowed, but no glass containers or bottles. Food vendors will be on-site. Rain site is the Alexandria Fulton Hotel.

ZYDABAAM is a fundraising concert for the Arna Bontemps African American Museum. Sponsors for ZYDABAAM include the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority, Allstate Insurance – the Williams Agency, Inc., Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Tobacco-Free Living, Fox 48 TV, Mix 93.9 and Red River Glass.

The Arna Bontemps African-American Museum is the restored childhood home of Arna Bontemps – poet, author, anthologist, and librarian – who was considered the leading authority of the Harlem Renaissance. The Museum is located on 3rd Street within Alexandria’s Cultural Arts District.
