State Police are investigating an APD officer-involved shooting that happened over the weekend. Troopers say the Alexandria police officer shot a Fort Polk soldier who refused to drop his weapon after he had been warned.
It happened around 3 am in the parking lot of a convenience store on MacArthur Drive. The officer was on routine patrol when he witnessed a fight.
Mitchell Bethin is listed in guarded condition with a bullet wound to his stomach.
State Police is investigating, which is standard operating procedure. Meanwhile, charges are pending.
