Alexandria, Louisiana—Imagine you were born with only one arm. What profession would you choose? Would you be a deputy sheriff? A probation officer? That is exactly the career path RaShad Bristo pursued, despite the fact he was born with only one arm.
Bristo successfully graduated from a Louisiana police academy, and went on to be a D.A.R.E. officer, a juvenile probation officer, and correctional officer. He also travels the country as a motivational speaker sharing the message “your condition is not your conclusion.” He teaches students to focus on their future, and not their feelings. His web site is www.rashadbristo.net.
Bristo will be speaking at the Rapides Parish Main Library, presenting an Anti-Bullying Seminar called “Developing a Champion Spirit.” The seminar is Saturday, December 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. The event is open to the public. Contact Faith at 445-2411, ext. 1036 for information.
