Bonerama from New Orleans, a brass funk rock band, entertained the crowd along with vendors selling food, drink and even a silent auction. The money goes to the Alexandria Zoo to honor the late Les Whitt.
Whitt was the long-time director of the zoo, who was well known nationwide and who was responsible for developing the zoo into a world-class attraction.
Tomorrow the zoo is free from 10 to four to honor his desire for all to visit and enjoy the animals, the park and the dedication to preservation of threatened species.
