Youth Art Month (YAM) is an annual celebration every March to emphasize the value of art education for all youth, and to encourage support for quality school art programs. YAM provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the visual arts. Alexandria Museum of Art supports YAM with the exhibition Art Shapes the World: 10th Annual Youth Art Month Juried Exhibition, which features artwork submitted by area students of all ages, as well as works by local art educators.
This juried exhibition features four age categories; Kindergarten – 2nd grade; 3rd grade -5th grade; 6th grade – 8th grade; and 9th grade – 12th grade. Each category will be awarded a 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and two Honorable Mention awards. The Awards Ceremony for the exhibition will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, March 8, 2014 during our Youth Art Month Festival on the grounds of the Alexandria Museum of Art. All students of central Louisiana are welcome to come join us for a day full of “art fun.”
