Alexandria Woman Charged with Attempted Murder

On Monday, April 22th, 2013, Alexandria Police Arrested Cherrieyl Owens, 35 of Alexandria and charged her with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Possession of CDS Sch II Narcotics  and Contempt of Court via warrant from RPSO.

At 10:45 P.M., APD officers were dispatched to the 3700 Block of Winston Street in reference to a man down. When officers arrived, they found a male subject lying in the road with a single gunshot wound to his chest. Medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. APD Detectives and Crime Scene were called out to assist.

Further investigation into the incident found that following a domestic related altercation, Owens pull out a handgun and shot the victim.

Owens was arrested on scene without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked. Cherrieyl Owens total bond has been set at $107,500. At this time, the victim remains in ICU.
