Alexandria Might Sell Fulton Hotel

Alexandria mayor Jacques Roy is proposing to sell the Fulton Hotel to a management group that will turn it into a Holiday Inn.

The badly damaged hotel has been in a courtroom for years and is an unusual city asset. The city owns the ground beneath the building, but the so-called tower has always been owned by private entities.

Roy has wanted to get the city out of the hotel business almost since he took office. The city council is being asked to take the first steps to sell the hotel to a southern hospitality group out of South Carolina.
