Alcohol Use Suspected in New Year’s Crashes

Alcohol is suspected in a crash that killed two Bunkie men in an Avoyelles crash last night.

Troopers say 42-year-old Marvin Overbey and 50-year-old Gary Ogea were killed when Overbey lost control of his pick-up on Highway 29 around 10:15.  The truck hit a utility pole and overturned.  Another passenger was seriously hurt.  The men were not wearing seatbelts.

And a crash in Saint Landry Parish leads to a DWI arrest.  State troopers say 32-year-old Yvonne LeBlanc of LeBeau lost control of her SUV early New Year’s Day.  Troopers say it overturned and caused life-threatening injuries to one passenger who became trapped.  Six unbuckled passengers were thrown from the SUV.  Leblanc faces many charges tonight.
