Alcohol Use Suspected in New Year’s Crashes

Troopers say 42-year-old Marvin Overbey and 50-year-old Gary Ogea were killed when Overbey lost control of his pick-up on Highway 29 around 10:15. The truck hit a utility pole and overturned. Another passenger was seriously hurt. The men were not wearing seatbelts.
And a crash in Saint Landry Parish leads to a DWI arrest. State troopers say 32-year-old Yvonne LeBlanc of LeBeau lost control of her SUV early New Year’s Day. Troopers say it overturned and caused life-threatening injuries to one passenger who became trapped. Six unbuckled passengers were thrown from the SUV. Leblanc faces many charges tonight.
