A Press Conference with Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne

 The Avoyelles Commission of Tourism invites the public to join Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne for a Press Conference at the Avoyelles Commission of Tourism Office in Mansura, Louisiana during National Tourism Week.

Jay Dardenne was reelected to a four-year term as Louisiana’s Lieutenant Governor in October 2011. He previously served four years as Secretary of State, fifteen years as a State Senator and three years as a Baton Rouge Metro-Councilman.

As Lieutenant Governor, he heads the Department of Culture Recreation and Tourism, which also includes State Parks, the State Museum System, the State Library, the Arts, the Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board and Volunteer Louisiana. Louisiana’s tourism numbers have skyrocketed since he took office in 2010. During his tenure as lieutenant governor, the tourism industry has grown to represent 1 in 10 jobs in Louisiana. In 2012, our state hosted more than 26 million domestic and international visitors, spurring a direct economic impact of nearly billion. These travelers also contributed more than 5 million in tax revenue to fund critical government programs for the people of Louisiana.
