Today the nation observes the 13th anniversary of the 911 terror attacks with ceremonies at ground zero, The Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 2,983 people were killed that day.
Many ceremonies were also held locally today. First, we head to Ball, where residents held their own remembrance at their walking trail and memorial park this morning. A few people spoke, but the brief service recognized those who gave their lives on 911. And remembered those who survived the attack on three sites in the U.S.
And this afternoon in Pineville, the VA Hospital also conducted a ceremony. There were musical selections, a reading of poems, and a time for these patriots to hear about how the U.S. responded on that day. Including one who joined the ranks of counselors for survivors of 911.
Other ceremonies were held at Menard High School, Fort Polk and in Leesville. And of course, ceremonies were held where those planes hit.
