The 4th Annual Mardi Gras Cluster Dog Show held jointly by the Baton Rouge Kennel Club and the Alexandria Kennel Club will be held at the Alexandria Riverfront Center, located at 707 Second Street in downtown Alexandria. The show dates will be Thursday, January 23 through Sunday, January 26, 2014 with judging starting at 8:00 AM each morning. The clubs will welcome three new breeds this year that have been approved by the American Kennel Club. The Chinook (working group), Rat Terrier (terrier group), and the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (hound group). Last year, over 3,600 dogs were in attendance over the four days and this year promises to be just as big. This is one of the last major shows prior to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, so many of the dogs that will be at this show will be on their way to New York for the “Super Bowl” of dog shows. The show will be held under the rules of the American Kennel Club and will be supervised by Jack Onofrio Dog Shows, Inc.
189 breeds of dogs will be represented this year each hoping to win the coveted “best in show” title.
If you’re interested in learning more about owning a dog, this will be a perfect opportunity to learn all about your four-legged friend. There will also be vendors available who will have a large selection of treats and presents for your best friend.
Due to space limitations, only dogs registered for the show will be permitted inside the convention center and no strollers will be allowed.
