One man receives a life sentence and another gets almost 23 years for dealing in meth.  Maurice Smith (left) received life, and Chavo Thomas (right) got 22 years and 9 months.  Both are from Ferriday.

[ October 3, 2013; 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. ] NATCHITOCHES – The Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra will open its 2013-14 season Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office is used to receiving calls involving animals. But the animal call G.P.S.O. received on September 25 was a bit unusual, even for the Sheriff’s Office.  Three buffalo were roaming loose in the Dartigo community for most of the day.
