Rapides Deputies say they’ve solved an arson case from January.  They’re 53-year-old James Stracener and 35-year-old Sandie Stansbury.  Both are from Elmer.  And 41-year-old Michael DeVito and 29-year-old Samantha Stracener, both of which are from Pollock.

State Treasurer Kennedy Addresses Downtown Rotary Club

State Treasurer John Kennedy says Louisiana can save millions of dollars by dropping unneeded contracts, mostly in the education department.  Today, Kennedy presented his plan to members of the downtown rotary club.

Kennedy got his start in state government by working as an attorney for former Governor Buddy Roemer.

Area Police Make Large Dent in Drug Fight

Area law enforcement agencies make a big dent in their fight against drugs.  The Natchitoches Drug Task Force takes seven people into custody on a long list of charges.  Agents say those charges stem from a long investigation into drug distribution in the Campti area.

2 Arrested for Weekend Shooting

Alexandria Police arrest two people after a shooting over the weekend.  Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 22 hundred block of Vance.
They found 40-year-old Kevin White of Alexandria with a shotgun.  Officers say white shot at a couple, thinking they witnessed him trying to break into a car.

Youth Challenge Program Celebrates 20th Year

The Louisiana Youth Challenge program is now in its 20th year.
This educational opportunity is for out-of-school young people.  It’s helped more than 16 thousand people receive high school diplomas at campuses in Pineville and in south Louisiana at Carville.

The anniversary celebration was held in New Orleans at the World War II Museum.
