Join us for Acoustic Concert Series featuring Will Payne Harrison after the Award Ceremony! Relive the spirit of the races through photographs taken by local community members capturing the action and people of the event! The exhibition features twenty photographs juried by Lafayette-based photographer, Philip Gould. This year’s selected photographs were captured by Susan Alexander, Stephanie Burnaman, Jovirick Buscar, Michael Elliott-Smith, Dr. David Holcombe, Jim Hurst, David Michiels, Jeff G. Stephens, and Tanya Truelove. AMoA’s 3rd Annual Louisiana Dragon Boat Races™ on the scenic Red River in May, 2013, featured more teams, food, elaborate costumes, and entertainment on and off the water than ever before. Cash awards and prizes will be presented to winners selected by judge Philip Gould for Action, People, and Place categories.
Philip Gould is a documentary and architectural photographer who has made Louisiana his home and favorite subject since 1974. Based in Lafayette, the hub of Cajun Country, he has photographed throughout the state, the south, the nation and beyond. His work has been published in over a dozen books on Louisiana as well as various periodicals from around the world. His photography has become one of the largest privately held photographic archives on the Bayou State available for stock licensing.
