12 Nights of Christmas Schedule of Events

December 6: 2nd Night of Christmas: Holiday Light Safari, Alexandria Zoo, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30p.m. Sponsored by City of Alexandria and FOTAZ. Hundreds of thousands of lights adorn the zoo. Musical entertainment, Santa, train rides and more. Additional dates: Dec. 7, 13-14, 20-23 and 27-30. Cost: $6. Call: 441-6810.

December 7: 3rd Night of Christmas: An Old Fashioned Christmas, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m, Kent Plantation House, 3601 Bayou Rapides Road. Sponsored by Kent Plantation House. Story telling, vintage music and dance, make your own old-fashioned Christmas ornament, Papa Noel and refreshments. Cost: Admission free. Call: 487-5998.

December 8: 4th Night of Christmas: Christmas de la Louisiane, 2 p.m. Jackson St. Extension. Sponsored by Alexandria Mardi Gras Association. Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne is this year’s Grand Marshall of the Alexandria Christmas Parade. Cost: Admission free. Call: 442-7668.

December 10: 5th Night of Christmas: String Concert, 7 p.m., Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center, 1202 Third St. Sponsored by Alexandria Youth Orchestra. After recently returning from playing Carnegie Hall and West Point, the AYO will amaze the crowd at this concert. Cost: $5. Call: 229-7631.

December 12: 6th Night of Christmas: Pilgrimage to Bethlehem, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Emmanuel Baptist Church, 430 Jackson St. Sponsored by Emmanuel Baptist Church. A guided tour of a dramatic recreation of 1st Century Bethlehem complete with pre-tour music and drama. Additional dates: Dec. 13, 6-9 p.m., Dec. 14, 3-9 p.m. and Dec. 15, 2-6 p.m.  Cost: Admission free.  Call: 442-7773.

December 13: 7th Night of Christmas: Pineville Christmas Parade, 7 p.m. Main Street. Sponsored by City of Pineville. Christmas parade. Cost: Admission free. Call: 445-3439.

December 14: 8th Night of Christmas: A Calvary Christmas, 6 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church, 5011 Jackson St. Sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church. A weaving of carols, timeless classics and new inspiring worship songs that lead us to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Cost: $5. Call: 445-1426.

December 15: 9th Night of Christmas: Live Nativity, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 2727 Jackson St. Sponsored by First United Methodist Church, Alexandria. Drive thru Nativity featuring music, candlelight and live animals. Cost: Admission free. Call: 443-5696.

December 17: 10th Night of Christmas: Christmas at Inglewood, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Inglewood Harvest Barn, 6233 Old Baton Rouge Highway. Sponsored by Inglewood Farm. Family Farm Day including Inglewood Market, wagon rides, Christmas music, kid’s crafts and more. Cost: Admission free. Call: 442-6398.

December 19: 11th Night of Christmas: Discover the Holiday Spirit through the Arts, 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Alexandria Museum of Art, 933 Second St. Sponsored by AMoA. A festive evening of art, food, music and storytelling celebrating holiday traditions from around the world. Acoustic Concert Series with host John Wakefield.  Cost: Admission free. Call: 443-3458.

December 21: 12th Night of Christmas: Christmas Candlelight Tour, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site, 135 Riverfront St. in Pineville.  Sponsored by Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site.  Dulcimer music, Christmas music, candlelight tour featuring reenactors reading letters to and from home.  Cost: Admission free.  Call: 484-2390.
